Our Cheeses

Lovers Retreat Dairy makes farmstead goat cheese with attention to quality.  The result is rich cheese with a very mild flavor due to the milk handling process. 

Fromage - sold in 4 oz. container, its soft, creamy texture is similar to cream cheese to make it very spreadable - ready for a hearty cracker.  We offer it in a variety of flavors

Chevre - sold in 4 oz. wedges, the texture is firmer than Fromage Blanc but smooth, rich, and creamy - a true delicacy that begs for a warm, crusty French baguette and a glass of robust red wine. We offer it in a variety of flavors.

*Plain - outstanding very mild flavor make this cheese undeniably good
*Herbs de Provence -
a savory blend of dried herbs commonly used in southern France including Savory, Rosemary, Basil, Marjoram and Wild Thyme
*Roasted Red Pepper - pureed roasted red peppers, fresh garlic and spices combine to make a delicious spread
*Sun Dried Tomato and Basil - a seasonal flavor when basil is available.  Sun dried tomatoes, fresh garlic, and fresh basil combined to make an irresistible taste
*Chive - simple and comforting.  Fresh garlic and chives are mixed in to make a favorite flavor 
*Chipoltle - slightly spicy with a smokey finish, this cheese is a nice change of pace
*Cranberry Pecan
- Cranberry sauce, dried cranberries and toasted pecans make for a salty sweet treat

Feta - sold in 4 oz. packages as a dry slice, not in a brine, which when young is moist with an almost cheddar like consistency.  After several weeks, it will gradually become drier and more crumbly for use in salads.

*Classic
- dry salted so it is less salty than most fetas.  It is great eaten out of hand or crumbled on salads.

*Basil - Classic feta with fresh basil added.  Available when fresh basil is in season.

*Chive - Classic feta with fresh chives added.  Subtle chive flavor infuses the cheese and becomes an addictive snack

*Kalamata Olive - Classic feta with the rich, fruity flavor of Kalamata olives make a mild Grecian combination

* goat cheese has about 1/2 the fat and cholesterol than cow's milk cream cheese -- goat cream cheese has 9.9 grams of fat per ounce and cheddar cheese has 9.4 grams

* goat cheese is safe for many people who are lactose intolerant or have other milk-related allergies. It can be easier to digest because the fat cells are smaller, which makes them more closely resemble human milk. This also allows the fat to be broken down naturally by your body's digestive system.

* Goat cheese is similar in calcium and phosphorus to cow cheese, but higher in potassium, Vitamin A, thiamin and niacin.
* Our goats are fed hay and grain and receive no antibiotics or hormones.
* We use vegetable rennet in all our cheeses.
