Our Cheeses

Lovers Retreat Dairy makes farmstead goat cheese with attention to quality.  Our goats graze on our pesticide and herbicide free pastures.  They receive no antibiotics or hormones. The result is rich cheese with a very mild flavor due to the careful milk handling process.  We use vegetable rennet in all our cheeses.

Chevre - sold in 4 oz. containers, the texture is firm but smooth, rich, and creamy - a true delicacy that begs for a warm, crusty French baguette and a glass of robust red wine. We offer it in a variety of flavors --

Plain
- outstanding mild flavor makes this cheese undeniably good
Herb De Provence -
a savory blend of dried herbs commonly used in southern France including Savory, Rosemary, Basil, Marjoram and Wild Thyme

Fromage Blanc
- sold in 4 oz. & 8 oz. containers, its soft, creamy texture is similar to cream cheese to make it very spreadable - ready for a hearty cracker or bagel.  We offer it in a variety of flavors --

Garlic and Chive - simple and comforting.  Fresh garlic and chives are mixed in to make a favorite flavor 
Chipotle
- slightly spicy with a smoky finish, this cheese is a nice change of pace
Sun Dried Tomato, Basil and Garlic
- Sun dried tomatoes, fresh garlic, and fresh basil combined to make an irresistible taste.  Seasonal
Pineapple and Orange - cool and refreshing.  Pineapple and mandarin orange are combined to make this tropical sensation Seasonal
Cranberry
- Cranberry sauce and dried cranberries make for a salty sweet treat
Honey and Ginger - combination is heavenly sweet



Fine Farmstead Cheeses

Feta - sold in 4 oz. & 8 oz. take-out containers, not in a brine, which when young is moist with an almost cheddar like consistency.  After several weeks, it will gradually become drier and more crumbly for use in salads.

Classic
- dry salted so it is less salty than most fetas.  It is great eaten out of hand or crumbled on salads. (
2nd place in 2008 ADGA Cheese Competition)
Dill - Classic feta complemented with fresh dill when in season.
Sun Dried Tomato and Basil
- Classic feta using local sun dried tomatoes and fresh basil when in season. (
1st place in 2008 ADGA Cheese Competition)

Camembert - sold in 13 oz. (approx.) wheels.  Luscious creamy, soft-ripened cheese with a unique and intricate flavor.  Pair with a fine red Bordeaux for the ultimate dining experience.

Chocolate Truffles - creamy chevre mixed with fine bittersweet chocolate makes for a decadent dessert but with half the calories of regular box chocolates.  Seasonal.

Drunken Dragon - semi-soft artisan goat cheese with a smooth violet rind.  The flavor begins as mild and creamy, but finishes with a wonderful tangy sweetness and a fruity, lusciously, grapey aroma.
